The awe-inspiring sense of history greets you as soon as you enter The Dolphin Tavern. The past echoes in the aged granite of the walls, the shipping artefacts that adorn the tavern, and the warm atmosphere that makes you feel immediately at home.

Back in 1585, John Hawkins used the tavern as his headquarters when recruiting Cornishmen to fight in the Armada, and Sir Walter Raleigh is thought to have smoked the first pipe of tobacco in England here. The tavern was also used as a courtroom in the centuries that followed and, so legend says, is home to three spirits.

This long and colourful history makes a visit to The Dolphin Tavern a unique experience.
